If you are looking for an easy and inexpensive way to brighten up your smile and boost your self confidence, you may want to consider teeth whitening. Dr. Price offers both in-office Sinsational Smile® teeth whitening and the take-home method. Both are equally effective, and both will not only bleach out stains but will lighten the natural pigment of your teeth. So even if your smile was never very bright, you can have teeth that are as white as you desire.
The Sinsational Smile Teeth Whitening Process
The first step in any teeth whitening process is to make sure that your teeth are healthy and clean. Dr. Price will examine your teeth to detect extra-sensitive teeth and leaky fillings. She offers Sinsational Smile technology because there is little risk of tooth sensitivity or zinging sensations after treatment, and it requires just 20 minutes to whiten your teeth by several shades. For this procedure, you will wear Sinsational Smile’s patented silicone tray. It is pre-filled with a powerful and effective whitening gel, and it allows your jaw to remain relaxed so you can be comfortable throughout the treatment.
An LED accelerating light is then applied to speed the gel’s activation. After 20 minutes, you’ll notice a big difference, and we’ll supply you with a take-home maintenance pen to extend the whiteness of your new smile. Depending on the level of staining and the natural pigment of your teeth, additional treatments may be necessary to achieve the whiteness you desire. You can also choose to have scheduled, in-office Sinsational Smile treatments to brighten up your smile on a regular basis.
The Take-Home Teeth Whitening Process
If you’d rather whiten your teeth at home on your own schedule, you can also save money with a simple take-home kit. Dr. Price will take an impression of your teeth and fabricate a set of trays that will fit your teeth precisely. You’ll also receive a powerful whitening gel and instructions.
When you’re ready to begin your treatment, you will put a small amount of get in your trays. You only need to wear them for about 20 minutes a day for about two weeks to see a real difference. And you can get additional whitening gel and continue to wear them longer if you would like your teeth to be whiter. Once you reach your desired shade, you will want to maintain your whiter teeth with periodic touch-ups once a year or so.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Your teeth have their own natural pigmentation in the dentin layer. In addition, coffee, tea, tobacco, and highly pigmented foods leave stains on your teeth throughout your life. The part of the stain that remains on the outer enamel layer is removed when you brush, floss, and have regular professional cleanings. But the stains also seep through the enamel and remain in the dentin. The professional whitening gel we provide contains a strong peroxide that penetrates the enamel and oxidizes the deeper stains and bleaches the natural pigment as well.
If you have ever tried over-the-counter whitening strips, you have probably found them to be ineffective. The reason is that because they were designed to be used without the supervision of a dentist the peroxide solution needs to be much weaker. And whitening toothpastes simply don’t stay on the teeth long enough to provide any benefit.
