I’m looking at some braces’ options. I like the idea of six-month smiles but wondered if it can straighten all my teeth in that time or just the front ones. The information I have seen so far just seems to indicate the front teeth. I’m looking for a full fix, but regular braces look like they’ll take three years. So, if they fix the front teeth, can we take the braces off of those and then do the back ones?
Six-month smiles can be a great solution in some cases, but as you noted, it is only for front teeth. You mentioned taking the braces off the front teeth and letting them “finish” the back teeth. Here is where I think you have a slight misunderstanding. The braces are only for your front teeth. The back teeth aren’t treated.
When Six-Month Smiles Won’t Work for You
If you’re looking for a procedure that will fix all your teeth, you still don’t have to get a mouth full of braces. In your case, you may be a better fit for Invisalign. This uses clear aligners instead of metal wires and brackets. It’s much more comfortable, will straighten all your teeth, and works faster than traditional braces.
It may not finish in six months, but it will be shorter than three years. In most cases, Invisalign works in at least half the time of braces.
They have an additional benefit as well. If you’re wanting to whiten your teeth, the Invisalign aligners can double as teeth whitening trays. This allows you to straighten your teeth and get them whitened simultaneously, saving you both time and money.
The key for you is to see a dentist you trust. Go over what your goals are for your smile. This can help you make the best decision. There are always options. Many dentists pride themselves on finding creative ways to help their patients get the smile of their dreams.
