When Dr. Chelsea Guilliot was in high school and starting to consider her future, she developed a toothache. As she was getting dental work done to relieve her pain, she decided that she was meant to do dentistry.
The art involved in dentistry fascinated her, and she realized how much she always loved her dentist. Additionally, she knew most people hated going to the dentist, so she decided she wanted to change that. Dentistry was the perfect career choice because it combines her love of the arts with her passion for caring for people. “I want to change how people perceive going to the dentist and make it an enjoyable experience rather than dreadful!” said Dr. Guilliot.
And that is what she did. Dr. Guilliot received her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Guilliot started working with Dr. Price at the beginning of 2018. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she met her husband while in dental school and chose to live in his hometown. When asked what she liked about her new home, Dr. Guilliot replied, “Louisiana is unlike anywhere else I’ve lived. The sense of community is much stronger and close-knit. The people in the Acadiana area really make you feel at home.”
As a passionate dentist, Dr. Guilliot dedicates every day to treating patients so they are no longer in pain. Additionally, it delights her to see her patients walk away from the chair with a genuine smile. Cosmetic cases have a special place in Dr. Guilliot’s heart. She’s expanding her skills in that area by studying dental implants and hopes to be placing them in the near future. She says, “There’s no better feeling than when a patient can’t stop smiling after seeing you.”
Dr. Chelsea is married to Dr. Jared Guilliot, who works as a general dentist in the downtown Lafayette area with his father Dr. Albert Guilliot. At home, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, crafting and DIY projects, baking, and having fun with their two dogs, Nola and Ringo.
