Your comfort is our first concern. Every aspect of our dental experience has been created with that in mind. When you call for your first visit to our office, you’ll be treated like family. We will assist you in finding an appointment time that works best for you. And when you arrive, we’re going to stand up and greet you by name. Our goal is to provide you with a “wow” experience. If you are fearful of receiving dental care, don’t hesitate to let us know. We offer many options to help you feel more relaxed, and you can choose from three effective levels of sedation as well.
Your first visit for your comprehensive examination and cleaning will take about an hour and a half.
You can complete your paperwork online or arrive 20 minutes early to complete it in the office where we will offer you infused water, coffee, or another beverage with many snack options. Need to brush your teeth before heading to the back? No problem—our patient bathrooms have toothbrushes and mini toothpaste that you can use if it will make you more comfortable to freshen up before your appointment. Once your paperwork is complete your dental hygienist or a dental assistant will give you a tour of our office before guiding you to a dental suite equipped with a dental massage chair and many more amenities.
Once you are comfortable, your hygienist will clean your teeth and ask about your regular home care routine. She will then introduce you to Dr. Price who will listen to your concerns, order x-rays if needed, and provide a comprehensive exam. Either the hygienist, a dental assistant, or the doctor will capture all necessary x-rays.
If your treatment needs are minor, we may have time to take care of them at this appointment. If they are more involved, you will be taken to a consultation room where we will fully explain any recommended treatment and fees, as well as answer any questions you may have. We will also take the time to discuss with you any home care techniques you would like to ask about. One of the major things we want to accomplish with you is help you prevent dental problems and preserve your natural teeth.
One point we need to make. If you have serious gum disease, your cleaning is going to be fairly involved, probably involving several appointments. But if you are like most people and all you need is a standard cleaning, we should get that done in this first appointment.
Dr. Price has not only pursued extensive post-graduate training in order to be able to offer her patients a wide variety of treatments, she also has invested in the most effective equipment to enhance accuracy and ease the way.
The DIAGNOdent laser caries detecting device can diagnose tooth decay before it would normally show up in an x-ray. This means that the treatment can be simpler and less invasive. In addition, intraoral cameras not only help Dr. Price to easily see each tooth, she also can display the pictures on a screen overhead, making it possible for you to see your teeth and better understand treatment recommendations. And finally, digital x-rays take much less time and cause less discomfort that traditional x-rays. And the results can be immediately seen on a monitor.
